AccuTrack Computer Lab Tracking Software

Do you need to track visits to your computer lab? Would you like to know how long a certain student used a certain application during the visit? The AccuTrack Computer Lab Plug-in software will do that for you and much more! Here are some of its benefits:

How does it work ?

You need to install this software on each computer at your lab. Students will need to sign in before using the computer. If the sign-in is successful, AccuTrack will minimize to give the student access to the desktop . A small "Sign Out" button will appear and it will float on top all other windows.

You can optionally have AccuTrack record the applications used during the sign-in session.When finished using the computer, the student can click the " Sign Out " button to sign out. AccuTrack will restore to prepare for the next student's sign-in.

The Computer Lab tracking software uses the same database you use with your regular AccuTrack Deluxe software. This means the sign-ins from the computers will be included in your reports . In addition, AccuTrack can even tell you which computer each student used.

You will need to use the regular AccuTrack software to setup your database (e.g. enter the students and generate reports). Since both the regular AccuTrack software and the computer tracking software use the same database, a sign in recorded on the computer tracking software is immediately recorded in the database and thus immediately visible and available in the AccuTrack report (real-time updates).

Note that the computer lab tracking software is an optional add-on to the regular AccuTrack software. This means The Computer Lab software requires the AccuTrack software for setup and reporting functions.

Server Requirements

We recommend that you use Windows 2008 Server or Windows 2003 Server to host the shared database. Novell is not recommended because of its tendency to cause data corruption.

You need to make sure that the operating system and network can support the needed connections to the database. For example, if you plan to use the software in a lab with 25 computers, then your network and server need to support having at least 25 computers connected to the same database files at the same time.

NOTE: If you plan to install the software on a large number of computers (say more than 30), then we strongly recommend that you get AccuSQL software instead of AccuTrack. AccuSQL utilizes the Microsoft SQL Server engine instead of the FoxPro database, thus it is better suited to handle the heavy load that could result from having many computers running the software.

Installation

You will need to install the Computer Lab Plug-in on any computer that you want to track. To speed up this process, copy the installation software to a shared drive on the network.
