Adding Individual Student Times to "By Activity" Report

I have been asked to add a sum after each student to show the time spent in a center in the "By Activity" report. The report shows the times for each individual visit, and the total time of each activity, but not the total time of each student's cumulative visits, which is something our auditor has requested.

How would I go about getting the "By Activity" report to show this additional information? Essentially I just need one additional line of info after each student and their individual visits to show the total time that student has spent in the activity.

Try generating Visits - By Student report and select the "Summary" option.

Just to be sure, you are referring to Visits- Student Attendance, correct (our version may be a bit dated)? The problem I run in to here is that this sorts students alphabetically as opposed to by activity and we use the activity field to track program codes, which we have quite a few of. Is there a way to sort this report by activities?

Sorry I thought you needed totals by student. If you want totals by activity, then generate the Visits->by Activity report and select the "Summary" option. Let us know if this is not what you need.

I need totals by student, but organized by activity. I also need the information in the By Activity report (totals for each activity and the grand total). Essentially, if I could somehow customize a report to add up the totals by student in the By Activity report, I would have all the information I need. If there is another report format that lets me see what I need (individual totals, activity totals, and grand total, organized by activity), that would work as well.

If you have experience with report writers, you will find it fairly easy to customize the report to show the totals. If this is your first time, you might need to spend some time on it to get used to the report writer. Practice with the above examples and see if you can apply what you learn to customizing the report with the totals.
