We are starting this thread to keep track of issues encountered while running AccuTrack under Vista. Let us know of your own discoveries if they are not listed here.

1) Compatability
Is AccuTrack compatible with MS Vista?
AccuTrack is built with Microsoft’s Visual FoxPro (VFP). Microsoft has stated that VFP version 9 is fully compatible with Vista, and it will fix any incompatibility issues if they are discovered.

AccuTrack version 9 or later is built with Microsoft VFP 9, so if you have AccuTrack 9 or later, you should not have incompatibility issues with Vista.

Versions of AccuTrack prior to version 9 are built with older versions of VFP (e.g. AccuTrack 8 uses VFP 7), and compatibility of these versions with Vista is not guaranteed by Microsoft. As a result, we recommend that you upgrade to AccuTrack 9 or later if you are planning to use AccuTrack with Vista.

2) Installation Directory Issues
Issue: When trying to update AccuTrack via auto download, every 3-4 minutes you get a dialogue box that says "Will update and launch new version". But it never launches and when you try and shutdown the machine it says FoxPro is still running. We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no luck.
After investigating this issue, we found the problem to be with Vista's UAC (UserAccessControl). If you install an application like AccuTrack under Vista's "Programs Folder", the OS would not allow writing to the application's folder. This is why AccuTrack is not able to update its exe file in that folder to the latest version!

One solution is to bypass auto updating and copy the new executables from UPDATES folder manually. The UPDATES folder is located in the parent folder of your shared data folder.

Another solution is to change the settings of AccuTrack's installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Accu10) so Vista allows updates to it.

Another solution is to install AccuTrack to the "All Users" folder instead. You can get the fullpath of that folder by typing SET in command prompt. Look for the "ALLUSERSPROFILE = ..." line for the path.

3) Vista After a Power Failure
While testing AccuTrack on a Vista machine, the machine experienced a power failure. When the machine was restarted, our tester found that AccuTrack data fiels were reset to a two-day older set! After some investigation, we found the updated files in a different folder in Vista. It turned out this issue was due to Vista's Virtual Storage. Copying the database folder back to its original location solved this issue.

4) AccuTrack HTML Editor
AccuTrack includes an HTML editor (dhtmled.ocx) that you can use to edit the HTML Email templates. This editor uses a standad Windows component that is included with Windows XP but not with Vista. Without this control users will get a Windows error when trying to edit the email templates. If you get this error on Vista, download the missing component via this page on Microsoft's web site:
