We have a Counceling center that assists future students decide on a career choice.
Problem is many of the visitors do not have an ID Number so the users are setup with fabricated numbers so they can log in for record keeping. This is turn presents the problem of keeping up with with these number so they are not used again or just so they know they cannot use that one, because it has already been used.
Once a student is registered and has a proper ID number the instructor has to go find and change the fabricated number to the new proper number... but they are feeling over welmed by all the data they are sifting through and it has added duplicate listing for people.
WANTED: They have asked if there can be a Button at the signin screen that lets a new visitor just Signin with their Full Name, Address, Phone number etc. etc. but leaves the ID Number blank until they get one later... the instructor would edit this list of "Non-registered" visitors at a later time and add the user to the Database by simply inputting the proper ID number and clicking "Add to Main Database now".

This signin list could be a simple comma delimited list that is for nothing more than keeping track and allow possible addition to the main database at a later time. It would keep a list of visitor that never came back so the instructors or people that want to know the numbers could count, and information that could allow them to possibly contact them later for whatever.

They have asked if there can be a Button at the signin screen that lets a new visitor just Signin with their Full Name, Address, Phone number etc. etc. but leaves the ID Number blank until they get one later.

That would not be possible because the sign-in and sign-out process are driven by the ID number.

To solve this problem, other institution require students to register and get an ID number before receiving services.

If this is not possible, then you should use a number that is guaranteed to be unique to the student. The student's social security number would be ideal for that purpose, but if this is not possible, you can use something else like the student's cell phone number. You can also use a combination of numbers (e.g. first 5 digits of student's phone number follwed by last 4 digits of student's social security number).

By the way, it is not too hard to find a student for editing if you utilize the built-in capabilities of the SuperTable. This table has built-in sort, search, and filtering capabilities. For example, to find a student by name, you simply click on the name colmn header to sort the list by name, and then you would click on any name and start typing the first few letters of the name. The table will automatically zoom in to the appropriate record. You can then double click on this name to edit the ID.
