Our institution is switching to gmail and according to the last post on this issue in summer 2010, Accutrack 10 is not compatible with gmail. I was wondering if there have been any updates to Accutrack and if there have been any upgrades to allow your customers to use gmail with the Accutrack automatic emailing features. We rely heavily on this function and will no longer be able to use Accutrack if we cannot use gmail. Switching to another ISP is not an option for us. Please advise. Thank you.

NOTE: In version 12 we added support for SMTP email, so the following answer only applies to versions older than 12:

AccuTrack is designed with standard SMTP server, which is not encrypted. GMAIL is not currently supported because it uses encrypted SMTP. There are several ways to work around this:

(1) Set up your own SMTP server: This is fairly easy as SMTP is included with Microsoft Windows Server. You can find detailed instructions for your particular Windows Server version by doing a Google search (e.g. "configure smtp on windows 2008 server".

(2) Sign up for a third party SMTP service: You can search for companies that provide standard SMTP accounts. Most web hosting companies will provide this service.

(3) Sign up for AccuTrack SMTP service: We will provide you with your own SMTP account to use with AccuTrack for $49/year.
