We are happy to announce that the Accudemia server has been moved to the Amazon Cloud during the Christmas break. The transition has been very smooth and most users did not even notice it!

The Amazon service offers a more reliable service than our previous host. The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) offers a highly reliable, flexible, and secure environment. The service runs within Amazon’s proven network infrastructure and data centers. The Amazon EC2 Service Level Agreement commitment is 99.95% availability!

The move also enhanced our disaster recovery capabilities and it is now possible to restore the service after a hardware or server crash in less than 30 minutes. Compare this to about 12 hours of hard work that our developers had to endure to restore the service after a hard drive crashed on the previous host computer!

Data and system backups are now easier as well.

We are very excited with the move and believe it will greatly enhance the Accudemia service.
