After installed AccuTrack in another computer (AccuTrack database is in network) but found that it is running extremely slow. Someone recommended to buy a new switches but would like to know will it fix the problem?

Your network administrator should be able to advise you best on this issue. If the slow-down is caused by a slow network, then speeding up the network will speed up the application. To check if it's a network problem, use the network for other functions (e.g. copy a large file from your computer to the network and note how fast it copies).

It is the recommendation from Network team but I am not sure will it fix the problem. I just want to make sure it before the purchase. Copy file was not slow at all. Whenever the user press a button, AccuTrack does not responding ... sometimes take more than few minutes (or never response). The users were very frustrated already.

Well there is a simple test to find out whether it's the network. Copy the AccuTrack database folder from your network drive to your local drive, point the software to the local database, and then try the sign-ins. If they are now fast, then you would know it's the network.

The database files are usually in a folder called "AccuData". To find out which is your live database folder, launch AccuTrack, go to System Administration, and then click on "Database" and "Database Location". You will see the path there. Remember this path because you need to restore it after your test.

Copy the folder (e.g. AccuData) to your local drive. Next point AccuTrack to use that via the Database Location screen by selecting the local folder and clicking "Save". You will need to restart AccuTrack before the change will take effect.

Now do test sign-ins and other functions that are usually slow and observe the speed. Don't worry about adding test records because you are working on a copy of the database not the live one.

When finished, point the software back to the live database via the Database Location screen. Remember to restart the software.

NOTE: You might also want to run Database Repair. This reindexes the database, which is always good for software operations.

NOTE 2: For faster respond, you might consider upgrading to AccuSQL, which uses a SQL Server database as its data engine. This works faster than AccuTrack because the database processing is done on the server by the SQL Server database engine.

Sorry but we didn't receive your message regarding the quote. It might be easier if you call us toll free 888-249-7227.

You didn't tell us the results of your speed test? Did you try copying the database locally to check on the speed of the software?

Please post any new issues in a new topic. This makes it easier for us to track and easier for other people reading the forum in the future.
