Sovereign of the Seas Cruise Tips

- Bring your laptop, preloaded with AccuTrack! You will need this as this is hands-on training.

- Plan to be there early on Friday. You can board the ship as early as 11 AM. This will give you opportunity to relax by the pool on deck 12, or have a bite at the Windjammer Café. Note that you might not be able to get into your cabin until later, and you might not see your checked luggage until later. If you need to have medications or other items, carry them with you onboard.

- Meet us at 1:00 PM for the first training session. If for some reason the ship is late and we are not able to board it in time for this session, we will skip Friday training and make it up. Also if the ship is late, you will be stuck in the terminal so bring a book to read or have something else to do!

- The dress is casual for the training session. For the cruise, we recommend you bring at least one swimming suite. You will need those if you swim at the ship's pool, use the hot tub, and for Cocoa Cay. You will also need formal dress for the second day dinner (suite and tie for men, cocktail dress for women). Your room might get cold because of the A/C, so be prepared for that.

- Do not use your cell phone once the ship leaves port as the charge is high - currently $8 per minute! Also do not plan to have Internet access onboard as the charge is 50 cents per minute for Internet access.

- If you are addicted to sodas, you might want to get their soda pass, which is available the first day for something like $18. This pass covers sodas for the whole trip. Without it they will charge you each time you order a soda. They also charge you for the cans of soda and water bottles in your room. If on the other hand you can live without cola for a few days, lemonade and ice tea are offered for free.

- Do your check-in with the cruise online and bring your SetSail Pass with you. This will speed up the boarding process. You will need to show your SetSail Pass, your travel documents, and the credit card you registered for that SetSail Pass at check in. You will also need to fill out a form for entering the Bahamas and a health form, but you can do those at check in.

- When you check in your will get a plastic card called Sea Pass Card. This card serves as your room key and also as your charge card. You will also need the Sea Pass card when you leave or board the ship. A photo ID is also required from passengers over 18 when getting back to the ship.

-Check in together with the person you are rooming with (if double occupancy).

- If you park at the port, the fee is $35 for the duration of the cruise.

- The tip for your waiter, assistant waiter, head waiter, and room attendant is paid at the last day of the voyage. The total of the suggested amount of these tips is $10 per person per day. You will get 4 envelopes and a list of the suggested amounts. If you want this to be charged to your credit card, you must fill out a form and give it to guest services by 11 PM on Saturday. Otherwise you will have to pay these tips in cash.

- There are several places to get food on the ship. In addition to scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the lounges, they have an open buffet at the Windjammer Café on deck 11. There is also a Pizza place that is open most of the time. You will also find food on the pool deck at certain times (e.g. midnight on day one). If all that is not enough, there is also free room service! In addition, there are some restaurant that require payment (e.g. Johnny Rockets, Ben & Jerry).

- The ship offers a lot of entertainment. Check the activity guide (called Cruise Compass) for shows description, schedules, and times.

- The ship gets back to port at 7:00 AM, and the disembarking process begins then. If you are in a hurry, you can register with the ship's guest services for an "Express Pass". This allows you to walk out with your bags at 7:00 AM, but you can only do this if you have one carry-on size bag per person. Otherwise you will have to wait for your tag color to be called. If you are not in a hurry, you might opt for later departure (up to 9:30 AM) and use the time to have breakfast at the Mirage lounge or at the Windjammer Café .
