School Remediation Software

AccuSilver is an add-on software for AccuTrack designed specifically for tracking remediation sessions in schools. The system was custom-built to manage the complex scheduling and tracking needs of remediation sessions at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, VA. The following is a description of the remediation program and how AccuSilver is being used:

About the School

Robinson Secondary School is the largest school in the Commonwealth of Virginia and includes a middle school (grades 7-8) and a high school (grades 9-12). The school's main building is the largest public building in Fairfax County. Robinson has over 4,700 students. The school is administered by the Fairfax County Public Schools.

Remediation Program

To ensure that students do not fall behind in their academic work, Robinson Secondary School offers its student remediation classes. These classes are offered 12:30 to 1:20 PM Tuesday-Friday. Most students are free to register for and attend any class they need. However, at-risk students are assigned a class by the school according to their needs.

With over 4,700 students and 170 teachers, the scheduling and tracking process was too complex to manage manually. The school contacted AccuTrack for assistance and we created AccuSilver to automate the remediation scheduling and tracking process.

AccuSilver

Robinson has over 2,000 computers for student and staff use. AccuSilver can run on any of these computers by simply accessing a web page on the school's server! The software was developed with Microsoft Silver Light, thus it offers a rich user interface that is capable of handling the heavy scheduling and tracking load.

AccuSilver allows the students to do the following:

1. Schedule remediation session for the next two weeks.
2. Sign in to the remediation sessions.

The scheduling process is very easy and quick. Students may view or change the current registration up to the session's date. Staff can also register the students. If this happens, students cannot over-ride the staff registration.

Students can sign in to their class on AccuSilver by entering their student ID.

Staff Functions

School administrators can get all kind of reports on the remediation sessions via the attendance and appointments reports. Teachers and administrators can also enter notes on each remediation session and attach documents to the student's record to track progress. Administrators can create special groups (e.g. at-risk student group) and track these groups by generating attendance and scheduling reports for the selected group.

Flexible System

AccuSilver can be customized to your needs. Much of the customization can be accomplished via the settings in the software. Others can be done via custom programming. Custom programming fees may apply.
